General Policies

Dress Code

Our dress code at BJSD for most classes is a leotard and tights of any color. Dancers are permitted to wear dance shorts or a skirt over their leotard, but are not required to. Those students taking Hip Hop can wear any moveable clothing. Those taking Acrobatics can wear any kind of form fitting athletic wear. All students should have their hair pulled back from their face. See below for shoe requirements: **Please label all shoes and bags with your dancer’s name!**

2.5-5 year old classes need pink Ballet shoes and black Tap shoes
5+ year old classes need pink Ballet shoes, tan Tap shoes and tan Jazz shoes
Lyrical classes need tan Jazz shoes
All Hip Hop classes can wear sneakers or tennis shoes
Acrobatics classes are taken bare foot

Tuition

Tuition is due on the 1st of every month and considered late after the 10th. Unpaid tuition balances will have a $25 late fee applied after the 10th. Tuition is paid monthly between August and May regardless of missed classes or holidays. Since the monthly tuition is based on an annual amount, you are NOT paying for the same number of classes each month. This means months with less classes (like December) are offset by months with more classes and you are responsible for paying each month’s tuition regardless of attendance.

Please be aware that if your account balance becomes delinquent by more than two months, our staff reserves the right to deny your child entry to their class until the account is made current.

Make-up Classes

We encourage our students to consistently attend classes. In the event of missed classes, a refund cannot be given but we will gladly help you schedule a make-up class. Make-up classes are suspended in January due to students working on recital dances. Please call or email the office to find out what make-up times are available for your dancer.

Withdrawal Policy

If you wish to discontinue enrollment with us, please speak with our office staff for the account to be deactivated. You will be held responsible for monthly payments regardless of the number of absences until you have officially withdrawn your child.

Inclement Weather

In the event of severe weather, safety is our top priority. We encourage everyone to use their best judgment when deciding to come to the studio. If BJSD closes due to weather, you will receive email updates and find information about it on our social media pages.
